A Vision for the Future

Penn's PIK Professors

What is a PIK Professor?PIK stands for Penn Integrates Knowledge, an initiative conceived by President Gutmann to recruit scholars whose research and teaching exemplify the integration of knowledge. These scholars hold endowed professorships and joint appointments between Penn's schools.
Why are PIK Professors important? The most challenging questions and problems of our time cannot be addressed by one discipline or profession. To comprehend our complex world, we must better integrate the knowledge and the tools from different disciplines and professional perspectives in our research and teaching.
