How to Endow a Scholarship

1. Make it Personal

- Make the choice. Create a new scholarship or add to an existing fund.
- Call it your own. If you endow a scholarship, you may name it.
- Show your preference. Choose a student from a particular geographic region or academic school.
- Personalize it. Get updates on your scholar’s academic experience, meet with your recipient at special events.

2. Choose a Level

creates a Gateway Scholarship
supports one high-need student each year in perpetuity |
$500,000

creates a Freedom Scholarship
meets the average grant need of one student each year in perpetuity
- a gift of $400,000 can be matched with $100,000 in Challenge Funds |

creates a named Challenge Fund
recognized by naming one student recipient each year in perpetuity; provides the matching funds needed to encourage up to 20 other donors to establish endowed scholarships |
$150,000

creates an Opportunity Scholarship
partially supports one student each year in perpetuity
- a gift of $125,000 can be matched with $25.000 in Challenge Funds |
$100,000

creates a Young Alumni Scholarship
available to alumni up to 15 years after graduation; establishes a permanent endowed fund recognized by naming one student recipient each year for four years
- a gift of $75,000 can be matched with $25,000 in Challenge Funds |

3. Show Your Commitment
|
| | - Gifts may be made in cash, as well as in other forms
such as securities, real estate, and personal property.
- Pledges may be paid over five years.
- Future commitments in the form of planned gifts, annuities, bequests, trusts, and retirement plans can also be made.
- Scholarship gifts are tax-deductible.
- Scholarship gifts count toward the Making History campaign.
